Longer Here Than There
Today in History.... February 13, 1991 is a day that will forever be seared in my mind. It's the day that I had to say good-bye to people that had become my family and to a country that was my home.
I've now spent fifteen years here in the United States -- a country that I have grown to love... but it was hard when I realized that I had spent longer here than I had in the country of Ecuador. I was there for 13 years and I still consider myself mostly to be "Ecuadorian" even though it's not one of my 3 citizenships.
I am Green! The mantra of all missionary kids -- Part Blue (Ecuador) + Part Yellow (US) = Green. Who knew that 15 years later I would feel the same love for the country that today makes me feel "blue"?
