Hollywood and those Award Shows

Let me ask you a question, how many times a year do you and your colleagues get together and dress to the nines just to pat each other on the back for a the work you're being paid to do? Ok, so maybe you see where I'm going with this. Where is the need for a new award show at every turn? Not only do they have an award show for everything they do, they have thousands of dollars in free gifts given to the richest group of people in this country.

Ok, so before you all accuse me of just being jealous and bitter that I don't have free things handed out to me (even though I don't quite make their salary), let me explain that this is not an envious rant. It has more to do with the fact that these people take themselves SO seriously, and they will continue to do so until WE stop taking them seriously.

Stores give free stuff to someone who made $25 million for 3 months worth of work. George Clooney had the right idea when he sold his goody bag and donated the money to charity, but why can't the original donation be given to charity from the get go? We give stuff to them so that they can look generous by donating it?

Here's the thing... they will continue to take themselves seriously as long as we take them seriously. As long as we continue to think that this behavior is rational they will continue acting this way. As long as we think that making Public Service Announcements is the best thing that people can do to help the people of this nation... they will continue to think that their little PSA's make THAT much of a difference. Does it really matter who Madonna thinks I should vote for? Does it really matter that P. Diddy thinks that the administration isn't doing the right thing? Let me get this straight.... they make an asinine amount of money for doing nothing that deserves it, tell everyone else how they should live and spend their money, keep all of their money for themselves and live ridiculously extravagant lives.... and on top of that they think they know what's best for the country.

NO THANK YOU!
